Dani Kimmel, Jacqui Kimmel, Chris Sanchez, Marc Uy, and Heather Voigt, competed at California/Nevada SR sectionals in March 2005.  More impressive than making the stringent time standards is the academic success of each swimmer in spite of hours a day spent in the pool.

Coach Tom Paradowski said the most exciting part of this meet was the great times each swimmer posted but more rewarding was, back in the hotel, how they all worked together studying when I reminded that they were missing school.

Heather Voigt swam 1:58.31 in the 200 yard Freestyle and a 5:11.49 in the 500 yard Freestyle.  Heather is a Sophomore at Eastlake High School and maintains a 3.9 GPA, taking mostly Honors and Accelerated Placement classes.

Chris Sanchez swam a 48.82 in the 100 yard Freestyle, a 1:48.78 in the 200 yard Freestyle, and a 1:59.10 in the 200 yard Backstroke.  Chris is an honors student at Bonita Vista High School and maintains a 4.4 GPA.

Dani Kimmel swam a 24.50 in the 50 yard Freestyle and a 1:06.32 in the 100 yard Breaststroke.  Dani is a Junior at Eastlake High School and maintains a 3.89 GPA in her demanding honors curriculum.

Jacqui Kimmel swam a 53.82 in the 100 yard Freestyle and a 1:10.03 in the 100 yard Breaststroke.  Jacqui is in the 9th grade at Eastlake High School and has a 4.0 GPA.

Marc Uy swam a 1:03.01 in the 100 yard Breaststroke, a 2:16.28 in the 200 yard Breastroke, and a 2:09.75 in the 200 yard IM.  Marc maintains above a 4.0 GPA at Eastlake High School, taking mostly Honors and Accelerated Placement classes.

Tom Paradowski explained that these Student Athletes are what South Bay Aquatics is all about.  Our in depth swimming program is full of mentors, from our excellent coaching staff to our active parent volunteers.  All these mentors constantly encourage the kids to excel both athletically and academically, whether it's at home, practice or at the many meets our team hosts or travels to.  The energy, camaraderie and talent in our swimming program brings out the best in our swimmers.
