Tom Paradowski is
the Head Coach of South Bay Aquatics. Tom began his swimming career
at the age of seven with the National City Swim Club. As a nationally
ranked age group swimmer, he broke many records. He was a CIF Champion
swimmer for Sweetwater High School and attended the University of Tennessee
on a swimming scholarship. He graduated from San Diego State University
in 1979.
Tom began his coaching
career with the Coronado Navy Swim Association as an assistant coach
in 1976. In 1980, he became the Head Coach of the Southwestern College
Men’s Swim Team. In 1982 he took over as Head Coach of the National
City Swim Club, the oldest continually chartered USA Swimming team in
San Diego. In addition to his club responsibilities, he was the Head
Coach of the Sweetwater High School Swim team from 1984 to 1993. In
2000, he was selected as San Diego – Imperial’s “Age
Group Coach of the Year”. Tom's dream of a united South Bay became
a reality in 2001 when three teams, National City, Eastlake and Chula
Vista, merged to form South Bay Aquatics. Tom has acted as both a San
Diego-Imperial Swimming, All-Star and Western Zone Coach. As an active
member of the San Diego-Imperial Swimming (LSC) Board of Directors,
his dedication to the promotion of swimming is apparent.
