Tom Paradowski, Head Coach and Senior Group Coach

Tom Paradowski is the Head Coach of South Bay Aquatics. Tom began his swimming career at the age of seven with the National City Swim Club. As a nationally ranked age group swimmer, he broke many records. He was a CIF Champion swimmer for Sweetwater High School and attended the University of Tennessee on a swimming scholarship. He graduated from San Diego State University in 1979.

Tom began his coaching career with the Coronado Navy Swim Association as an assistant coach in 1976. In 1980, he became the Head Coach of the Southwestern College Men’s Swim Team. In 1982 he took over as Head Coach of the National City Swim Club, the oldest continually chartered USA Swimming team in San Diego. In addition to his club responsibilities, he was the Head Coach of the Sweetwater High School Swim team from 1984 to 1993. In 2000, he was selected as San Diego – Imperial’s “Age Group Coach of the Year”. Tom's dream of a united South Bay became a reality in 2001 when three teams, National City, Eastlake and Chula Vista, merged to form South Bay Aquatics. Tom has acted as both a San Diego-Imperial Swimming, All-Star and Western Zone Coach. As an active member of the San Diego-Imperial Swimming (LSC) Board of Directors, his dedication to the promotion of swimming is apparent.

Ned Maggiora, Age Group Coach at Eastlake Community Pool

Ned played water polo and was an All-American for the Diablo Valley Junior College in 1974 and 1975. He continued his education at Pepperdine University, where he swam and played water polo. At the University, he was an All-American water polo player in 1976. Ned has participated on several AAU water polo national championship teams. Even though Ned claims that he is not as fit as he used to be, he continues to swim with the San Diego Swim Masters. He loves to swim in the Rough Water competitions and has won his age group numerous times.

Ned Maggiora has been a swimming coach in San Diego since 1978. He has taught swimmers from Novice to the Senior National level with the El Centro Sundivers, Chula Vista Aquatic Association, and the Eastlake Swim Team. Some of his swimmers have held or continue to hold San Diego-Imperial records. Ned's life-long love of swimming has been passed on to the thousands of athletes that he has touched.

Rachael Kerr, Age Group Coach at Loma Verde Community Pool

Rachael Kerr began swimming in 1991 in Exmouth, Western Austalia where she learned the fundamentals of competitive swimming.  Rachael continued swimming in Virginia where she swam for Norfolk Silver Dolphins and then on to her high school swim team at Western Branch High School. 

Rachael began coaching in 2001 in Virginia Beach, Virginia at Tide Swim Team.  She started as an assistant coach to the novice group and then quickly grew to coach Levels 1, 2, and 3.  Rachael was an assistant coach to Alanton Bolts Summer League team in Virginia Beach in 2005. Rachael began coaching for South Bay Aquatics in May of 2006. Rachael has a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Teacher Prep  Prek-6 emphasis  and is currently working on a Masters in Elementary Education.  Rachael has a passion for working with children and teaching them the fundamentals of competitive swimming.   Rachael believes that through swimming children can accomplish great things and be given a strong work ethic that they can apply to their daily life.   Most importantly swimming should be fun so that children can continue to love the sport for life.
